2014 Jeep Cherokee

The 2014 Cherokee, the first Fiat-based Jeep, is the replacement for the midsize Liberty and will compete with the likes of the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.

The Cherokee will combine a futuristic look and offer a long list of conveniences, such as automatic parking and an 8.4-inch center-stack screen. Jeep will also offer a four-wheel drive version for off-roading Jeep loyalists.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee promises a 45 percent improvement in fuel economy, a whopping 31 mpg on the highway. Based on the same platform as the Dodge Dart, the 2014 Cherokee features a radical front end design with slim headlamps and a seven-slot grille integrated into the hood.

Under the hood you can get a 184 hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder or 271 hp 3.2-liter 6-cylinder engine, both powering a segment-first 9-speed automatic transmission.The most potent version will be able to tow up to 4,500 pounds.

The outfitted Cherokee Trailhawk tops the line and features 8.7-inches of ground clearance, front and rear fascias redesigned to improve approach and departure angles, standard skid plates, tow hooks front and rear, and Jeep's Trail Rated designation.

The interior is one of the largest in its class and can be enhanced by an available virtual instrument cluster, 8.4-inch Pandora, Aha and iHeart Radio-equipped infotainment system, plus a center console-mounted wireless charging mat for mobile devices.

The new Cherokee will be built in Toledo, Ohio. The Toledo plant has been the proud "home of Jeep for more than 70 years. With the launch of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a new chapter in the decades-old story of Jeep and Toledo is being written.
